A prismatic shard is a rare custom mob drop and loot item that is obtained by killing ghosts, slimes, skeletons, fishing and mining.
Prismatic shards are used to obtain Galaxy weapons, such as the Galaxy Sword, Dagger and Hammer.
The base item for a prismatic shard is a nether star.

Ghosts[]
Ghosts have a 1 in 36 chance of dropping a prismatic shard when killed. These are by far one of the best chances of finding a prismatic shard and therefore your best bet for obtaining prismatic shards. A mob farm or zombie spawner will significantly help you to find ghosts.
Slimes[]
Killing a slime has a 1 in 5000 (0.02%) chance of dropping a prismatic shard.
Skeletons[]
Killing a melee skeleton has a 1 in 2000 (0.05%) chance of dropping a prismatic shard.
Fishing[]
When fishing for treasure, there is a chance of finding a prismatic shard.
Mining[]
Mining a stone block has a 1 in 10283 (~0.01%) chance of dropping a prismatic shard.
